Healthy Heart

What is Heart Disease?
Although heart disease is an umbrella term for a variety of different diseases affecting the heart, it usually refers to coronary artery disease. When cholesterol accumulates in the coronary arteries the flow of blood is obstructed. As a result the oxygen supply to the heart is reduces and various symptoms including chest pain are experienced. High cholesterol diet, smoking, obesity, and stress are considered the most important factors in causing heart disease. More than 15 million people die of heart diease every year. As of 2007, it is the leading cause of death in the United States, England, Canada and Wales, killing one person every 34 seconds in the United States alone. The incidence of heart disease has been rising in the developing countries as well. The World Health Organization predicts that heart disease would reach epidemic levels in many developing countries including Bangladesh unless immediate steps are taken.

Conventional Treatment and its Limitations
Under conventional treatment, medicine, angioplasty or bypass surgery is recommended for clearing away cholesterol and normalizing blood flow, depending to the extent of blockage. This treatment however, has some major limitations. It cannot prevent blockages from recurring: One of the most important risk factors in heart disease is stress. But any effective treatment of stress is usually absent in conventional treatment. As a result, when the patient resumes his old lifestyle following the surgery, he gradually develops various complicacies of the heart once again. Studies show that between 25 to 50% of the patients suffer from restenosis or recurrence of significant blockages within 4 to 6 months of an angioplasty. 1 in 20 people suffer from a second heart attack after surgery. 1 in 40 people suffer from stroke. A second bypass surgery increases this risk by 10 to 20 percent. Harmful side effects of medicine and surgery: Open heart surgery involves cutting the ribs open to access the heart. Needless to say, such a procedure takes a huge toll on the patient and diminishes his energy and vitality. Even angioplasty and the medicine that usually accompany it frequently give birth to complications such as hematoma, drop beats, fluctuations in blood pressure etc. Huge expense For many patients, bearing the cost of these procedures is a huge burden. The minimum cost of an angioplasty is roughly $15,000 and of a bypass surgery roughly $40,000 dollars. A recent edition of Davidson's Principles and Practices of Medicine clearly states that angioplasty and bypass surgery, while successfully treating symptoms, fail to have any impact on the survival rates of heart patients. PCI (coronary angioplasty & coronary artery bypass graft surgery) provides an effective symptomatic treatment but there is no evidence that it improves survival in patients with chronic stable angina.

A New Approach Experts have seen that a change in lifestyle and diet is more effective. For years it was believed that once a blockage was formed there was no way to treat it other than angioplasty or bypass surgery. Dr. Dean Ornish, a specialist from California, was the first to strike a blow to this conservative notion. While working as a specialist in a hospital in California, Dr Ornish noticed, to his amazement, that 30 to 50 percent of heart patients were being readmitted to the hospital with new blockages within four to six months of angioplasty or bypass. Later, influenced by the philosophy of Guru Swami Satchidananda, he decided to conduct research on the effect of yoga, low cholesterol diet, and meditation on heart disease. In 1987, he divided 48 heart patients into two groups of 28 and 20. The first group was given a low cholesterol diet and taught to practice meditation and yoga for a year. In addition, they were successfully motivated to cease smoking and encouraged to develop compassion and empathy. The 20 members of the other group were treated according the guidelines of the American Heart Association. After one year, it was seen that for the first group, blockage had not only stopped, but reversed. Blood circulation to the heart had also increased significantly. On the other hand, for those undergoing conventional treatment, blockage had increased significantly. A detailed report on Dr. Ornish’s experiment was published in the Journal of American Medical Association in 1998. This ground breaking work created a huge stir in the US. Dr. Ornish wrote a book called Program for Reversing Heart Disease describing the program and its astonishing impact, which instantly became a national best seller. In an article entitled Going Mainstream, the June 26 issue of Newsweek reported that after Dr. Dean Ornish published the results of his earlier study, Mutual, an insurance agency based in Omaha, funded a two year study in which 200 subscribers enrolled in Dr. Ornish’s program, which cost $5500 dollars, instead of reporting to hospitals for $ 15,000 angio-plasties or $40,000 bypass operations. 190 stuck with the program, of them, only one needed surgery. After this tremendous success, hospitals from all over the country sent teams to receive training in Dr. Ornish’s program. This process not only saves the cost of expensive operations, but also relieves the patient from side effects and costs of the medicines that patients have to take lifelong following a heart surgery. Ornish’s program has gained such widespread acceptance that it hardly qualifies as alternative anymore, it is considered part of the mainstream treatment of heart disease.

If you can't control your anger: you'll be the lose

Do you think anger is justified, even necessary? Or do you feel your anger is harming you but there is nothing you can do about it? You may think differently after you read this.

Consider this well known joke

The heiress to a billionaire’s property was his beautiful daughter. When this daughter grew up, her beauty and wealth gained her a lot of suitors, who all wanted to marry her. The daughter did not like anyone in particular, so she came up with a unique way to choose her future husband. She gathered all the suitors near a swimming pool, and declared she would marry the one who could swim to the other side of the pool fastest. The only catch was the pool was full of hungry crocodiles!
As soon as the beautiful heiress announced this, a young man jumped into the pool, and before the crocodiles could get to him, swam to the other side of the pool. The beautiful heiress was ecstatic. She ran over to the young man and declared, ‘You’re my hero! I have waited for someone like you all my life! You are the one I’ll marry!’
The young man abruptly pushed the beautiful heiress away , and said, “Who is the s…*$%# who pushed me into the pool? Wait till I get my hands on him!”
This joke has an interesting lesson to teach. If only the young man in the joke could have kept his cool, he could have got the proverbial princess with half the kingdom. Instead, he let his anger get the better of him.
We don’t want to cheat our way to winning the hands of rich heiresses. However, we have all done stupid things, and lost opportunities, in anger. When we get angry we lose our ability to think calmly. Most of the time we think of how to get back at the person we are angry at - rather than what is best for us. This is why we say, if you get angry, you lose.

The Costs of Anger

Psychological
When we are angry, we say or do things that we would never say or do in our normal state. Sometimes the victims of our outbursts get over what we had said or done, but we cannot get over the regret or embarrassment.
Researchers say harbouring anger for long periods can cause mental diseases such as apathy and depression. They say depression is anger turned inwards. If you harbour anger for long periods of time it will suck all the joy out of you.
Physical
Research shows that whether expressed or unexpressed, anger causes a lot of damage to our health.
When we get angry, some physiological changes take place within us. Our heart rate, blood pressure and breathing rates increase. Neurotransmitters such as catecholamine and hormones such as adrenaline and nor adrenaline are released, resulting in a state of arousal. The body temperature increases and perspiration takes place to bring the body back to normal temperature. Our muscles get tense and more blood flows into our limbs in preparation for physical action. Collectively, these changes are called the fight or flight response.
Researchers have found out that frequent anger (and consequently the frequent elicitation of the fight or flight response) cause a wide range of chronic diseases including insomnia, hypertension, diabetes, asthma, ulcer, stroke, heart attack, epilepsy, IBS, migraine, back pain, lung disease and even cancer.
For example, one study shows men with poor anger management skills are more likely to suffer a heart attack before the age of 55 than their more emotionally controlled peers. Another study indicates that how hostile and irritable an adult male is predicts his risk of heart disease more accurately than other risk factors including cholesterol, alcohol intake, cigarette smoking, and being overweight.
Research has also shown that anger suppresses immune functions, slows down the rate of healing and decreases longevity. Consistent, prolonged levels of anger give a person a five times greater chance of dying before age 50.
Relationships
Anger destroys relationships more than any other emotion. Family members are guarded and less relaxed around people who get angry frequently, angry people thus have less intimacy in their relationships. They also have fewer friends.
Success
Thirteen hundred years ago, Hazrat Ali (as), the fourth of the Islamic Caliphs, said that one should never do four things when one is angry :
  • Make decisions
  • Make pledges
  • Render punishment
  • Issue commands
Modern science is beginning to prove the wisdom of his advice. Jennifer Lerner of the Harvard Decision Science Laboratory found that when people are angry, they feel that they don't need more information before taking decisions, under perceive risks, think simplistically, and attribute causality to individuals rather than situation. When we are angry, our attention narrows and locks on the target of our anger. This often means we are so consumed with thoughts of getting back at the person we are angry with that we fail to consider what impact our actions will have on us. Think of the guy in the story. Or think of Zinedine Zidane’s famous head butt in the 2006 World Cup football final, or Mike Tyson biting Evander Holyfield’s ear. If we look at our own lives, we will find that we have all done stupid things, and lost opportunities due to anger.
Anger may also cause impaired neurological function leading to lack of concentration and memory. And as mentioned before, anger and resentment harbored for a long time may cause fatigue, apathy and depression. All these lead to worse performance and work and less success in life.
Spiritual
Spiritual progress is impossible without the ability to control your anger. Every major religion stresses the importance of controlling anger.
The Buddha had said, The true hero is the one who can control his own emotions.
Jesus Christ was one asked, “What thing is difficult?” He said,: “God’s Wrath. Prophet Ihya then said: What thing takes near the wrath of God?” He said, Anger.
The prophet said, ‘A real hero is not a person who defeats his adversary by wrestle, but he who controls himself at the time of anger.’

Does Anger Ever Really Serve any Purpose?

Many of us believe that some degree of anger is necessary for functioning in the world or that our anger is justified, even warranted. Let’s look at some of the common causes of anger, and see whether getting angry improves or worsens the situation.
Possible reason No.1: When someone misbehaves with us: If we get angry, it only puts the relationship on a downhill spiral. But if I don’t get angry in return, there is a much greater likelihood that the person who has misbehaved will repent.
Possible reason No. 2: If someone cheats: Rather than get angry, if we learn the lesson and learn to be more careful in the future, it will bring greater benefit to our life.
Possible reason No.3: If an injustice is perpetrated, if we are not rewarded justly for our hard work: In most cases, protesting, especially protesting alone, is useless. It is the course of action taken by the weak. The strong and wise thing to do is to wait till you gain enough strength to correct the injustice being perpetrated.
Possible reason No.4: If we are not rewarded justly for our hard work: In most cases if we look deeply into why we are not being rewarded, we will find that it is due to our own short comings.
Possible reason No.5: If someone mocks at our weaknesses: Why give him the pleasure of seeing he can control your emotions? Instead of getting angry, laugh.
Possible reason No.6: If we are under work stress: We must all have noticed that getting angry in these situations decreases the quality of our work and delays its completion even more. When you are able to express your gratitude to God even under these circumstances, you will find that you are able to complete your work easily and smoothly.
Possible reason No.8: If we fear losing power or authority: If we look at history, we will find that the ones who can stay calm in all situations can retain power or authority the longest.
Possible reason No.9: If someone refuses us: Just as we have the right to propose, others have the right to refuse. It is better to respect this right, and not to take refusals personally.
Possible reason No.10: If someone refuses to accept a logical statement or argument: Getting angry will not improve the situation in any way. It is best to convince him with compassion.

Is it Really Possible to Not Get Angry?

The Buddha had approached the last days of his life. A cunning man had an idea. He thought, ‘the Buddha will not live much longer. If I can spend some time with him and learn some techniques then as soon as he dies I will declare myself his reincarnation. Then I will not have to work hard any more. – I will be able to survive easily on other people’s donations.’
He started behaving like a devoted disciple and take care all the Buddha’s needs. Buddha understood what was going on, but did not say anything. Two years passed, and finally the disciple realized that he had not gained spiritual powers; because it is not possible to gain spiritual powers without true devotion. So the cunning disciple became livid! He decided to take revenge on the Buddha.
One morning, the Buddha was sitting alone. The disciple thought, “This is my chance,” and went and slandered the Buddha as badly as he could. He called him all the names that came to his mind. The Buddha kept his mouth shut. He just listened patiently. At last, when the deceitful disciple paused for a bit, Buddha opened his mouth. He said,“Can I ask you something?’ The disciple was still very angry. He angrily said, ‘Ask what you want to ask.’ The Buddha said, “Say you want to give something that is yours to someone. If he doesn’t take it, who will have it?” The agitated disciple replied, “You can’t understand this simple thing? This is easy. If I want to give something that is mine to someone and he doesn’t take it, it will be left with me.” The Buddha asked again, “So if you want to give someone something but he doesn’t accept it it will be yours?” The deceitful disciple said, “Yes, I will have the things.” Then the Buddha said, “Then I don’t accept any of the slander you just gave me.”

How To Get Rid of Anger

1) Change your attitude about anger:
If you are truly convinced that if you get angry, you’ll lose, you will find that you are able to control your anger. Here are a few techniques that might help you in this regard.
  • Stick the 'rege gelen to here gelen' (anger means defeat) sticker in highly visible places.
  • If you have the chance, video tape yourself with your cell phone when you are angry or ask a friend to do so. Notice how animal like you look when you are angry. This might serve as the wake up call you need.
  • Repeat the auto suggestion, 'An angry man goes from hero to zero, over and over again in the meditative level, or when you have some opportunity during the day.

2) Find out the reason of your anger:
Underlying our anger is usually some sort of core hurt: feeling unimportant, disregarded, accused, devalued, guilty, untrustworthy, rejected, powerless, unlovable etc. The more your sense of self worth and well being is dependent on other people, the more you easily you will get angry.
The Buddha did not get angry at the disciple because his sense of self worth was independent of other people's opinion. And he had the insight to realize that the disciples behaviour had more to do with his own disappointment than the Buddha.
You can be that way too, if you build up your confidence. You can use the 'Negative Thoughts' meditation to root out your negative thoughts about yourself, then use the Hold Your Head High meditation to strengthen your confidence. In addition, you can use positive auto suggestions and affirmations when ever you have time or during any meditation.
3) Seek professional help if necessary:
Anger can be the result of some psychological problem and may require professional intervention. This is especially true if you are prone to sudden violent outbursts. In such cases practice Shithilaion ( relaxation) and seek professional help.
4) Meditate:
Research shows that when there is a decrease the serotonin flow in the brain we tend to get angry more often. Research also shows that serotonin flow increases in regular meditators.
When we meditate, alpha waves start flowing in our brain and makes us feel calm and peaceful. In that state, we can see past our hurt or anger and see the whole picture. It is easier to forgive.
Meditation also brings to surface repressed or hidden anger and resentment and frees us from their grip.
When you think deeply at the meditative level, you will be able to realize the truth of 'An angry man goes from hero to zero'.
Quantum Method has also specific meditations on 'Anger' and 'Resentment'. Practice these meditations for three months in a row and you will find you are a transformed person.

LEARN MEDITATION AT HOME : STEP BY STEP

How Do I Start?

If you have decided that you want to try Quantum Method Meditation and are wondering how to start, here's what you may do.
Start with practising relaxation. We say relaxation is like the 1 on the left of a lot of 0s, unless it is there, the rest of the meditation techniques are valueless.
Before you start however, it would be useful to familiarize yourself with some of the terms and techniques used. These are available in the next sections.
After you have practised relaxation for a while, ideally twice every day for forty days, you may choose any meditation you want from the selected meditations section.
Please remember that learning meditation without a guide or accessories requires some patience. You will progress much more quickly and benefit much more if you take the Quantum Method Meditation Course.
 Quantum Terms

Your Alpha Station:
The Alpha Station is beautiful place which has a waiting room surrounded by dense woods, fountains, lakes, gardens,-or any other natural environment that you like. It is the place you reach when both your mind and body is completely relaxed and alpha waves are being created in your brain. It is also the starting point in your journey towards your Quantum Home, the state of consciousness where the mind functions at the optimum level. Often, during meditation, you will use the Alpha station to wash away all your negative emotions. Create your Alpha Station in your imagination when you are trying relaxation for the very first time.
Your Quantum Home:
Your Quantum Home is your mind’s own home. It is the place where your mind is free of all negative thoughts, where it can use its creative and innovative potential best. If you want to use the immense power of your mind to become proactive so that you can attain peace, health and success, the first thing you need to do is create your Quantum Home.
The first time you do relaxation, after counting down from 19 to 0, create your Quantum Home in your imagination. Your Quantum Home can be situated in any peaceful natural surrounding of your choice. It can be beside a lake, river, or sea; in the middle of a park or grassland, at the top of a mountain, in the middle of a lake, beside a waterfall, in a dense forest or even at the bottom of the ocean. Wherever you build your Quantum Home, it should always be surrounded by joy and beauty and give you peace. It can be something that you have seen in real life and really liked, or something you design from your own imagination.
Inside the Quantum Home, there will be a large drawing room called the Darbar. A corridor to the right of the drawing room would lead to another large room, which will be your Healing Centre. In addition, you can add a study room, a rehearsal room, an acting stage, a prayer room, or any other room that you want. Wherever you go to your Quantum Home, you can change it in any way you want.
 Autosuggestions and Affirmations
Autosuggestions are postive  words and statements which when repeated over and over change your inner world; create new beliefs and vibrations that eventually change your reality. When you say autosuggestions with belief and conviction they are called affirmations. For example, French Psychologist Emile Coue used the autosuggestion 'Day by day, in every way, I am getting better and better', to cure his patients of various types of disease.
You can use autosuggestions and affirmations to achieve many different kinds of positive goals, such as confidence or courage; better memory or concentration; recovery from disease; better relationships; getting rid of bad habits; and success in education, work or business. You can learn more about autosuggestions in our Mantra Power section.
Autosuggestions and affirmations will be effective if you follow these rules while forming them.
  1. These autosuggestions are intended for you personally. So use the first person, e.g. 'I am bold and courageous.'
  2. Be completely positive. Write down what you desire not what you want to avoid.
  3. Avoid negative words. Avoid phrases such as ‘cannot’, ‘will not’, ‘do not want’ etc. Instead of saying ‘I do not have any fear’, say ‘I am courageous’.
  4. Do not compare your self with the past or with someone else. Do not say, ‘I am as courageous as John.’
  5. The autosuggestions must be realistic.
  6. Do not include any time limit in your autosuggestion. Time limits can be stressful.

Goal Visualization (Monchhobi)

A monchhobi is a mental image or vision of your goal. Goal Visualization (monchhobi) means visualizing our goals When belief is added to your vision for your future it is called monchhobi or mental image. It is a picture of who you want to be deeply imprinted on your mind.
Our brain and nervous system understands the language of pictures best, and can retain it for the longest time. The human nervous system always acts in accordance with whatever the subconscious mind imagines, thinks or believes to be true. Once we have an image deeply imprinted on our mind, our brain and nervous system accepts it as true and start working towards it day and night. They change our attitude, create initiative and enthusiasm, and keep on supplying us with the necessary knowledge and energy. Like a self guided missile, our mind guides itself make the image a reality.
Every successful person has practiced monchobi, visualization or mental imaging consciously or unconsciously. For thousands of years spiritual seekers have used this technique for the benefit of themselves and others. In the modern world everyone ranging from players to beauty contestants use this technique for success.

Five Conditions for Successful Monchobi or Visualization:
  1. The goal must be specific and clear.
  2. Your brain must be able to accept the goal as logical and attainable. For example, if you are a civilian, you may visualize to become the Commander in Chief. But your brain may not accept a monchobi ( mental image) of being the Joint Chief of Staff.
  3. Radiate the feeling of attaining the goal. Imagine yourself not as an observer, but as a participant in the whole process. This is very important. If you think about your goal it remains a possibility, but if you can think from your goal it is certain to become reality.
  4. Continuous identification with your goal: Continue visualizing your monchibi or mental image in your meditations regularly until you achieve it. In day-to-day life continue believing your dream will come true. Do not let any negative thoughts interfere the process of reorganizing the information in your subconscious. Do not consciously analyze how you will reach your goal. Leave it to the subconscious to decide the plan of action.
  5. Working silently to attain the goal. Do not announce your goal to the world, just keep on working silently till you achieve it.
After practicing monchobi or visualization for a while we should feel an increased urge to work towards our goals. If this does not happen, it may indicate that we are day dreaming, and not fulfilling all the conditions of monchobi or visualization.
If are now almost ready to start practicing relaxation.

Relaxation Preparation

Select a quiet place in your home for relaxation. Make sure no one will disturb you for some time. You may leave your phone in another room or put it on the silent or meeting mode so that the ring doesn’t disturb you. Make sure the room is well ventilated and is not completely dark. (Soft light is best.) Wear loose comfortable clothes. (Take off your shoes, socks and spectacles if you wear them. You may want to loosen your belt for greater comfort.)

Before you start relaxation, think of any recent incident that has brought you happiness and contentment. It doesn’t matter how trivial the incident was, what matters is the feeling it brought you.

Lie down on your back on a thin carpet or a hard bed, the harder the better. If necessary, you can place a thin pillow under your head. Place your hands on either side of your body, palms facing up. There should be some space between your feet. You can also practice relaxation sitting on a chair or on the floor. When sitting on a chair, keep your spine straight. Make sure your feet touch the floor. Rest the palms of your hands on your knees. If you know yoga, you can practice relaxation sitting on the floor in the lotus position or the half lotus position. Just make sure you are comfortable.

Relaxation

Relaxation is simple and easy to learn. You can practice relaxation at home. All you need to do is follow these simple steps. First read all the steps from first to last and then start your journey towards your Quantum Home. Best of luck!
  1. Close your eyes softly. Your eyelids should barely cover your eyes and lightly touch your bottom eyelashes. There should be no frown or crease on the face. By closing your eyes, your most active sense organs, you are shutting yourself off from the rest of the world to a large extent. Your eyes are getting a rest. You are not unduly affected by your surroundings.
  2. Now take a deep long breath through your nostrils. Exhale slowly through your mouth. Expand your lower chest and abdomen as you inhale. This is called abdominal breathing. As you inhale think ‘Infinite natural energy is entering my body’. As you exhale, think ‘All harmful elements are going out of my body.’ Again, breathe in through your nostrils. Think ‘infinite natural energy is entering my body.’ Breathe out through your mouth. Think ‘All harmful elements are going out of my body.’ Take a bit longer to exhale than to inhale. Repeat this cycle 6 to 10 times. Then let your breath return to normal.
  3. With your eyes closed visualize your body - from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes. Focus your attention for about ten seconds on the muscles at the crown of your head. As soon as you concentrate you will feel the blood circulation increase in that area. It will feel slightly warm and tiingling sensation in that area. Finally you will feel the muscles become relaxed and heavy. In the same way, concentrate for 10 seconds on each the following organs, in the order mentioned : forehead, eyes and eyelids, lips and tongue, chin, face, throat, neck, shoulders, right hand, left hand, chest, backbone, stomach, intestine, waist, hips, thighs, knees, ankles, feet and toes. Visualize and feel the blood circulation increasing in those areas, the warm and tickling sensation, and finally the muscles becoming relaxed and heavy. Go through the list of the organs several times before you start the relaxation process so that you don’t have any difficulty remembering their names and order.) As you progress from head to toe, feel relaxation flowing down your body like melting ice.
  4. Imagine your body is becoming numb. Now slowly breathe in and out through your nostrils 5 times. Take a little longer to exhale than to inhale. Then gently let your breathing return to normal.
  5. Now focus your attention on your breathing. Feel and visualize the air entering through your nostrils, filling every cell in your lungs, then coming out again. Concentrate on your breathing, but do no control it. Let it flow normally. Continue for 1 or 2 minutes. Feel your body becoming heavier.
  6. Shift your attention to the force of gravity pulling your body downwards. Feel your own weight. Notice how the weight of your head, shoulders, chest, abdomen, hips, hands and legs has increased. Imagine that they are becoming heavier and heavier and turning numb. Imagine the cells in your body are no longer living cells, but have been transformed into sand.
  7. Imagine your whole body is made of sand. Visualize and try to feel as if these grains of sand are shedding from your body. Your fingers, hands, legs, chest, abdomen, thighs, everything is sand falling from your body. Your body is being transformed into a pile of sand. Imagine, as clearly as you can, that your whole body is lying on the floor as a pile of sand.
  8. You are just a pile of sand. Imagine a cool wind blowing from the north. The wind is getting stronger and stronger. The windstorm is blowing away the sand that was your body. You do not have a body anymore! All you have is your mind, your consciousness. You are completely relaxed. The frequency of your brain waves has dropped from the Beta to the Alpha level. You have reached your ‘Alpha Station’ on the way to your Quantum Home. There is a special waiting room just for you in this station.
  9. Now say to yourself, 'From the Alpha Station I am now going even deeper into my mind to my Quantum Home. As long as I am there, any external noise will only make my concentration deeper. However, no matter how deep a state I am in, if there is a fire, earthquake or any other kind of emergency, I will automatically return to my normal conscious state and take the appropriate actions promptly.
  10. You are now going to start a mental countdown to reach your Quantum Home. By counting down from 19 to 0 you will reach your Quantum Home through a path of light. As you think 19, imagine you are being showered by a sublime blue light. A long path of light is in front of you. This path leads to the deeper levels of your mind. Count 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11. Think, “This path of light is taking me deeper and deeper into my mind.” Continue counting down. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6. Think, “I am going deeper and deeper.” 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. Tell yourself, “I have reached my Quantum Home.” Let a feeling of complete peace and happiness engulf you.
  11. Take a couple of minutes to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. Take in the fragrance of the flowers, the colors and textures of plants, the chirping of the birds, the waves of the sea, the murmur of the fountains…Pay attention to every detail, touch everything, feel everything.
  12. Now enter the drawing room of your Quantum Home, and sit comfortably.
  13. Your Quantum Home is a powerful state of consciousness. As soon as you reach this level, your mind automatically assigns your immune and healing systems to cure any illness. In this state, your mind can utilize the power of your brain fully to implement any plan for your welfare. Your brain readily accepts autosuggestions at this state. So, for future benefit, say to yourself , “In the future, whenever, with the intention to meditate, I close my eyes and say or hear the words “Relax, Relax, Relax.” all the unnecessary activities in my mind and body will stop and I will feel completely relaxed. Then, after I count down from 19 to 0, I will reach my Quantum Home.”
  14. You may also add other autosuggestions. For example, “From now onwards I will have more and more mental strength and will always be completely relaxed. My memory will improve. My courage and confidence will increase day by day.I will easily concentrate on any subject I desire for any length of time. My body and mind will always be completely healthy. I will be free from the influence of all negative and reactive thoughts and words. Positive and proactive thoughts will bring my welfare. I will get whatever I want through proactive thinking. Day by day, in every way, I am getting better, healthier, and happier.”
You may create your own autosuggestions according to your physical and mental needs. Every word you say in this level of mind will be transformed into energy.
  15. At this stage, you may concentrate on your monchobi or mental image, perform self-healing, or employ any of the other meditation techniques mentioned.
  16. After spending this wonderful time in your Quantum Home it is now time to return to reality. Take a long deep breath. Say aloud or in your mind, “After I count from 0 to 7, I will open my eyes and be wide awake. I will feel lively and energetic in both body and mind.” Now start counting. 0, 1. Feel the sand grains returning to form your body. 2, 3. Take a long breath. Feel the sand grains transforming into healthy living cells. 4, 5. Take another long breath. Feel your body has been nicely reconstructed and is now vibrant with new life force. Say to yourself “After I count to 7, I will open my eyes and be wide awake. I will not feel any pain or discomfort in my head, neck, shoulders, or any other part of my body. I will be completely aware of my surroundings. I will be healthy, lively and energetic.” 6, 7. Open your eyes. Gently move your head and shoulders. Stretch your legs. Move your arms and hands. Say loudly and joyfully, “I am feeling wonderful. I am feeling wonderful.”

After You Practice Relaxation for the First Time

Congratulations for meditating wonderfully. When you are meditating, remember:
1. After you finish meditation, it may feel like you were simply sitting or lying with your eyes closed. That you didn’t feel anything special. Don’t worry if this happens. Just continue practicing. Gradually you will start feeling more.
2. Your body might feel extremely heavy. This is a good sign. Your body is starting to listen to you very fast.
3. Your might feel hot and start sweating. This is also natural. Things will return to normal if you continue practicing for a few days.
4. You might get a lot of saliva in your mouth. This is also a positive sign. Your body is starting to relax very quickly.
5. Your throat may become dry. If so, think of something tangy, like lemon or tamarind. Your mouth will automatically become wetter.
6. If you meditate sitting, you will probably feel some pain in your neck, shoulder and back. This will also go away if you practice for a few days.
7. Some people- very few- feel dizzy or nauseous while meditating. If this happens take some long deep breaths while continuing to meditate. The discomfort will go away.
After you practice relaxation in this process twice everyday for forty days, you are ready to move on to  relaxation: short process and other meditations.
